No Big Sister ‘Til 2010

Earlier today, Take-Two Interactive made the very disappointing announcement that they were pushing the release date for BioShock 2 back until the 2010 fiscal year. For those not in-the-know, said fiscal year will run from November 1, 2009 until October 31, 2010. The original release date was set for November 3 in North America, so this announcement seemed rather vague and random.
Now we have a bit of clarification. Take-Two added that BioShock 2 will definitely not release in 2009, but rather in the first half of 2010. That’s the real 2010—not some fiscal year gobbledygook. Take-Two says the delay will “provide additional development time for the title.” Hopefully, the extra time in the oven will result in more delicious gaming experience.
We’ll let you know about any further changes to the release date as soon as the info is available.

The fiscal year runs 1 Oct to 30 Sep, so that makes this announcement even more curious since 3 Nov was already in FY2010.
Warthog, the fiscal year I reported is the one given by Take-Two. Perhaps their fiscal year is different than the norm? That wouldn’t be unusual, as I’ve read about several other businesses with different fiscal year periods.
I don’t care what fiscal year it’s releasing in, I’m relieved by this announcement. One less game I have to worry about trying to buy this fall.
I’m not really disappointed about this. Anything that helps relieve the glut of holiday games is fine by me.
I’m with you guys. This year is starting to look like 2007, and that scares me.
Makes sense, Adam. Just sounds weird to me. I guess I always assumed all FYs were the same but a company could pick any 365 day period I guess.
In any event, I have been sitting on the original forever so delaying 2 gives me more time to get down to playing the first game.
