Despite less than stellar sales and reviews, EA is moving ahead with a Mirror’s Edge sequel. EA Games Europe’s senior VP Patrick Soderlund says a “small team” is busy brainstorming for the next installment.

Soderlund even admitted that Mirror’s Edge is far from perfect, and certainly didn’t sell like EA hoped, but that won’t stop a sequel. I remember a time when EA would not make such a risky move on a franchise that wasn’t a guaranteed success. The EA of today is more than willing to throw some money behind such a project, and I couldn’t be happier.

Sadly, Soderlund didn’t have anything else to say about the sequel. We don’t know a targe release window, game details — not a thing. Hopefully, EA will see fit to enlighten us very soon.

  1. I suspect it will feature free running in some form or another.

  2. Ya know Sean, I think you’re on to something… :p

  3. I’m hoping they tweak the controls a little the combat system didn’t work so well. Missing a jump because you waited a split second too long was rather annoying, but I still enjoyed the game.

  4. I’d be perfectly fine if they completely took away the combat in the sequel. Also, if they had just playtested the levels more, I think they they would have realized that there were some serious problems with the level layouts. Hopefully they do that for the sequel. The first game was flawed, but still a REALLY fun time.

  5. I really enjoyed this game, I hope that they do fix the little problems that came with this game.

  6. YAY!!!! I AM RESERVING IT AS SOON AS I CAN !!!! And to those who whine about combat, are you crazy? The combat was very good for a game that wasnt even made for that. You know, having to do with parkour and everything.

  7. I think that EA is making a great move with backing another Mirror’s edge game because the first one was very innovative…nothing like it has ever been done, or at least in a long while. Making a sequel will just increase its popularity, if its not people saying “Mirror’s edge 2 is soo much better than the first one,” this would increase popularity, aswell as if someone says the first mirror’s edge was better, making people go back and get the first installment. I love Mirror’s Edge :)
