Light is Shed on Alan Wake
Posted January 11th, 2010 in Articles, Microsoft, News, Trailers, Video, Xbox 360 by Adam Robinson
You folks will no doubt think that is Captain Obvious’ Article Title of the Day when you check out the latest gameplay trailer for the Xbox 360 exclusive, is-it-ever-coming-out mystery/thriller game Alan Wake.
Not much to see here, but at least developer Remedy Games isn’t holding out anymore. The use of light in particular is very well done, and I for one can’t wait to see more. The story is said to be of a Twin Peaks sort (i.e. creepy and weird), following a writer and many strange occurrences in a small town. I wish writers’ lives were really so intriguing.

Yes, the title is correct: Blizzard really did put a trailer out for the latest World of Warcraft patch, 3.3. And here it is!
Almost makes me want to start playing again. Almost.
Modern Warfare 2’s Controversial Intro
Posted October 28th, 2009 in Articles, Microsoft, News, PS3, Sony, Video, Xbox 360 by Adam Robinson
If you don’t want the beginning of Modern Warfare 2 spoiled (assuming it wasn’t already spoiled for you by the myriad media outlets running similar stories), don’t watch the following video.
UPDATE 10/29: The video was removed at Activision’s request. Suffice it to say the video features a pretty harrowing gameplay experience—one which you’ll get to experience yourself on November 10.
So I’m sold on the game now, but I can see this bugging some people. (Warning: if you didn’t watch the video but are still reading, don’t click on the “Continue” button because there are some spoilers beyond.) (more…)
Netflix Streaming to Your PS3 Soon
Posted October 26th, 2009 in Articles, News, PS3, Sony by Adam Robinson

Do any Sony rumors turn out to be false these days? Doesn’t seem like it to me, folks. Consider this: those rumors about Netflix coming to PlayStation 3 are true. Starting next month (no specific date was mentioned), you can fire up your PS3 and watch thousands of movies, TV shows, cartoons, and weird documentaries about ice cream (don’t ask). Naturally, you’ll need a Netflix account to get anything out of this situation.
I for one am excited by this announcement. Now my Xbox 360 can be completely devoted to playing nothing but games, while my PlayStation 3 remains my entertainment hub of choice. This is partly due to the Xbox 360’s proclivity for mysteriously dying—the fewer things it needs to do, the better. Conversely, the PS3 is built like a Sherman tank, so it can handle the extra load.
What say you? Does this announcement make you squeal with glee or simply sigh? Sound off!
Fight Night Round 4 Gets PHYSIC-al
Posted April 15th, 2009 in News by Drew Koehler
Possibly one of my favorite games of all time from the days of the OG Xbox to today’s current generation systems is Fight Night. Starting with Fight Night Round 2, the game pummeled it’s way into my heart with great graphics and addicting gameplay. Fight Night Round 3 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 took the game to the next level with absolutely startling graphics and the still addicting gameplay but lacked an interesting progression for the single player and the online got repetative.
While EA promises to fix all of that with Round 4, one thing they are implementing is more physics (hence the title). Check out this video below.
Start Getting Excited

Neato! Nuff said.
I just uploaded the video, so if it’s not displayed yet check back in a few. I hope you all enjoy it, I should have been asleep instead of making a video but it was just too exciting to sleep.
Internet Killed the Gaming Magazine
Posted December 15th, 2008 in Articles by Drew Koehler
This article is from HCG User de Hollywood.
We did a bad thing, us internet folk. With the constant minute to minute play by play of the video game nation on blogs, we’ve made life for video game magazines very difficult indeed. They fight tooth and nail to change to stay up to date, but it’s an upstream battle to say the least. If it wasn’t for the exclusive information they seem to be able to keep a lid on for so long, would they even still be around? It’s doubtful. How long does it take to create, publish and ship magazines? It takes a century in comparison of how fast a blog can get a tip and post it on the front page. Do I think that print is dead? No, not necessarily, but it sure isn’t healthy in this case. “Nrevolution”, a Nintendo based magazine recently closed its doors and the Spanish version of Electronic Gaming Monthly ended, citing a lack of confidence in the English magazine ability to stay afloat as the main reason. We watched as GFW magazine fell apart at the seams and moved to the online world. Can video game magazines survive in the current generation of consumers that are use to more content at a much faster rate? I’m going to offer both sides of the argument, and you can make up your own dang minds.
