Eidos At It Again

Many of you may remember the so-called “Gerstmann-gate” fiasco last year, where Kane & Lynch got a bad review from Gamespot reviewer Jeff Gerstmann. Gamespot subsequently fired Gerstmann under extremely shady circumstances, presumably under pressure from Eidos.

Shacknews is reporting that Eidos now has hired a PR firm to pressure reviewers to delay their reviews of Tomb Raider Underworld until Monday if they have given it a score below an 8/10, saying they want to keep the Metacritc score high, “…just to ensure that we don’t put people off buying the game…”

Tomb Raider Underworld was released this past Tuesday, November 19th.

Tomb Raider Underworld Getting Exclusive DLC on 360

The next entry in the Tomb Raider franchise will be out soon, and it looks you’ll have an excuse to keep the game instead of trading it in. Two pieces of downloadable content have been announced for the 360. The first, “Beneath the Ashes,” will pick up after the end of Underworld and feature new areas and enemies. He second, “Lara’s Shadow,” will come out next year and will feature a new kind of playable character. The last Tomb Raider to feature a different playable character was Angel of Darkness, and that didn’t turn out too well. However, the title makes me think that perhaps it will be a doppelganger of Lara. This content will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. A demo for Underworld is also coming soon.
