Konami Drops Six Days in Fallujah

Six Days in Fallujah was always going to be controversial, but it looks like the amount and level of criticism was too much for Konami to handle.

According to The Asahi Shimbun, a newspaper in Japan, Konami has decided to no longer publish the game. To quote the Konami representative, “After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it. We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there.”

The game was being developed by Atomic Games, and there’s no word yet whether or not they will try to find another publisher or if the game will simply cease to exist at this point.

Konami again denies that Metal Gear Solid 4 is in the works for the Xbox 360. Konami’s PR rep Yoshitaka Arai was quoted as saying “we are investigating releasing a 360 version.” However, it seems the story was quickly edited. The original quote had been edited to include Castlevania and Pro Evolution Soccer instead of Metal Gear Solid 4.

The rumor of Metal Gear Solid being developed for the Xbox 360 seems to have been nipped in the bud for now. Konami is vehemently denying plans to develop Metal Gear Solid 4 for the 360. Instead, they are looking into developing other titles for the console.
