360 Fanboys Impressions on Killzone 2 Multiplayer
Can I just be a little school girl for a second? Oh my gosh Killzone 2 multiplayer is sooooo freakin awesome!
Ok, now I’m done. I picked up Killzone 2 last night at Walmart. I was the only person waiting for it, felt pretty dumb being “that guy” in my pajamas standing in an invisible line. After learning that my local Game Stop wasn’t having a midnight launch due to no reservations. No reservations? Seriously? Not a really good start for the game that will save the world and put Sony back on top. I guess I live in an Xbox and Wii town.
So I popped in Killzone 2 as soon as I got home, instead of starting the single player missions I decided I wanted to try out the multiplayer first. Guess what? No game install! Can this be true? What has happened to my PS3? Did it change over night? I set up my region settings and got right into a game.
I played all night with 31 other people online, that’s a lot of people to kill. Thankfully due to Killzone 2’s unique experience I didn’t have to focus on killing everyone all the time. As each game progresses you have different objective to overcome. Just as we explained in episode 98 of the Hardcore Christian Gamer Cast, you can start off killing as many of the opposing team that you can. Then you move to escorting a propaganda speaker from one location to another. Next you may have to find the target and assassinate him. It keeps changing throughout the rounds keeping things chaotic and fun.
You start off as only 1 class with 2 different weapon choices. As you progress in rank and earn medals you will be able to choose from other weapons and classes. The ranking system is straight forward, earn points to rank up, but the medal system adds a great addition to the ranking idea. As you earn more medals you get bonuses too.
There are clans, and squads. You can participate in tournaments online! This game has everything!
Let me just say, that the graphics are by far the most realistic and beautiful visuals I have ever seen on ANY online multiplayer game. Sony, you have me sold on your title. This game has loads of promise and potential to be great and may truly be a reason to stay Sony. This is of course if you are into first person shooters.
My only complaint, and it’s slight, is that the control sensitivity is very frustrating, I have not found the ideal setting for myself yet though I am sure that this will be nothing but a learning curve for me.
This game, based on multiplayer alone is absolutely worth a buy in my opinion. I have never been so impressed with a game before, and I truly believed that this game was going to be just another shooter.

not a fan of the game i dont know how it got a 5/5 i would personally give it a 3/5. graphics are good, not groundbreaking i’ve seen better. sony shot it’s self in the foot on this one the single player campaign is probably the most boring ive ever played. whats the story? you run around and press the R1 button… not impressed sony. and why make a sequal to a game that many didn’t buy in the first place?

i can say the same thing about any first person shooter…run around and press R1. halo 3: run around and press shoot. gears 2: run around and press shoot. resistance: run around and press shoot. i’m very impressed with the story so far, i read bad reviews about the story and didn’t have good expectations but it has really surprised me.
the atmosphere is the best. it feels like you’re in a war.

Good article im a PS3/SONY fan but i really love Halo series and its good to see ppl from the other side (360) respecting some SONY games its supposed to be like this we PS fans respecting xbox games and xbox fans respecting ps games this is the way to end the fanboysm that Kills the game industry…

Lets Face people are going on about graphics yes it’s not a groundbreaker when your comparing to a PC game i.e. Crysis which blows everything out of the water, and only now are people able to afford a good enoughh pc to run it, and who know maybe doom 4 may have better in the future. But compared to any thing on a console it stands head and shoulders above the rest, their isn’t anything close on the xbox apart from maybe gears 2 and it story line was to short complete in just 10 hours. Halo 3 over rate junk which the xbox fanboys going on about or should it be halo fanboys which has never done any good on a pc why is that? they where say it was better than half-life until they got half-life 2 on xbox then half of them changed there tune. If your lucky like me and ctristian gamer you might have both consoles and even a pc so your in the best of both worlds, You should play the game before you pass judgement and that does include the muti-player

you obviously haven’t played the game. It is the best looking game out. Even the article writer who is an xbot sees that this game is groundbreakingly amazing looking. If you actually owned a ps3 and this game you would realize that this is the greatest game crafted by mankind to date. And if you actually had any friends you would be playing the incredible multiplayer. I cannot say enough good things about it and its not because I am a fanboy like you. I just realize that Sony is the best and all others should bow down before them.
After playing KZ2,i have to say that COD4 still rules in every ways!KZ2 controls feel chunk,the visuals are blur and very grey!the online modes are good but the level of intensities are far from does experience during a match of COD4!And the annoying kids you enconter during the match!

killzone 2 is a cool game the cutsceanes are sweet! graphics are coolies, has some lame voice acting in it that just makes u laugh lol.the only thing ive found that really does my head in is the control! ah anoying!.but some will think this is the greatist game ever and some will not.for me its just a game one of many cool games but not the greatist lmfao

hard to believe this multiplayer can be as good as call of duty 4, I played the demo and wasn’t too impressed by it. But I will be sure to pick up a copy just to get a bash of the multiplayer
I wasn’t impressed by the Demo. Buy having just got this game yesterady and now have put some time into it.

I’ve always played xbox, just how it started, but i played gears, halo, resistance, CoD4/5, all on xbox except for resistance. And killzone by far looks best. I was skeptical when i saw the e3 video that was “pre-rendered”. super_six, you give Microsoft users a bad name. And poeple need to stop knocking stories on Science fiction games.

Finally got to play the game myself, and all I have to say is you media types all should be ashamed of yourselves.

As for the graphics, they are good, but they DO NOT blow everything else away, and they are NOT mind blowing.
My question is, why is everyone in the media so determined to convince us that this game is the second coming of Christ?

Im surprised their were no pre-orders at your gamestop, do you live in Seattle? I picked up the game yesterday and if your playing the campaign on trooper (normal) then you will most-likely have a VERY good time and LOVE it. I however am playing on Veteran and am having a VERY good time and LOVING it but it is certainly one of the hardest FPS I have ever played. The MP is extremely well done, when people said the environments were muddy , bland , and grey , that was all I expected but although the environments are dark they still have a good amount of coloring/shading to them. The looks marvelous, and its not just the looks , its the feel, the weather, and the physics.
There were no lines at midnight. In fact, there were not even any retail stores open at midnight selling Killzone 2. Why? Like I have been saying all along, PS3 owners like to brag and talk about games online, but they don’t buy them.
If Killzone 2 is the Halo 3/Gears 1/Gears 2 of the PS3, then why are Sony Fanboys not lined up around the block at midnight to pickup their GREATEST game of all time on the PS3? Gamestop and Best Buy have already announced midnight openings/parties for Halo Wars!
This is why Sony is failing and dropping even further into last place. Because Sony Fanboys (like their Gamecube counterparts before them) just do not support their own platform. It seems they expect someone else to do it for them, while they run their mouths in forums and comment sections.
Sony barely even marketed this game to the masses. If this game were released on the 360, it would be just another shooter, that’s all. A good one, don’t get me wrong, but just another run of the mill shooter. But this is all the PS3 has, so they make it out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Personally, after taking such abuse from PS2 owners when I owned an original XBOX last generation. I find it quite comforting to watch those same owners with their PS3 getting their butts kicked by Microsoft at every turn now. What goes around comes around people.
Next generation, Microsoft will so TOTALLY dominate Sony too. They have learned their hard lesson (both financially and PR wise) about hardware reliability with the RRoD this generation. You can bet they won’t make that same mistake next time. Their attempt to save $10 million by designing their own ASIC’s rather than using the normal industry contractors ended up costing them a cool billion. They won’t make that mistake again.
Finally, this was Sony’s biggest game of the year. And it is already off to a slow start. No other title in their “2009 Year of the Playstation” list is as big as Killzone 2. And if this is all it can do, you can bet the rest of the year will be just as dull.
If you really think COD4 graphics are the same or better you have issues.. Seriously, graphic wise, kz2 is by far the best… the lightening is perfect.. the detail is amazing.. and when you say Yeah killzone 2 is a been there done that game… which game out there is not like that (fps)…. I just cant believe that some people think COD4 has the same if not better graphics then kz2… That is a real shame

Why don’t you go check online and see how many people are playing, that would answer your answer AND ITS FREE.
Unlike MS where you have to pay 3x just to play online.

METAL GEAR SOLID 4 was the real big game that was released not KILLZONE 2. get your facts straight. Why don’t you look up and research how many awards Hideo won for making the best franchise in history and how many PS3’s were sold during the process.
Why don’t you also check to see why SF4 sold more on ps3 then the 360? hmmmm..perhaps free online and better controls.
Even DEVS have been saying since 2007, they advised for multiplat games to be made FIRST ON THE PS3 then ported to the 360 due to the more advanced tech in ps3. if you dont believe me thats fine, just google it.

there are no cover features, no real stragety…nobody just runs around like headless chickens in a greal war..except halo of course. Not only that play UT and HALO they have the exact same gameplay except UT is more adrenaline pumped.

I own a ps3 NOT a 360 and I can honestly say that Killzone 2 didn’t deliver. I have watched people play the halo and gears campaigns and there is no comparison. Killzone 2 has no engaging or innovative storyline but is instead wrought with vulgar and unnecessary language. Ps3 fanboys need to stop contradicting themselves and actually play through games with un-biased expectations.

when i first start playing COD4 i didnt expected it would be better than Halo 1 2 or 3 (for me of course) but it was and since then i was playing COD4 but i have to admit that Kz2 just did the same to my relation with COD4 i cant stop playing KillZone2 now
about the long lines i was one of those that at midnight were expecting H3 but it really didnt paid up the GameStop at my locatoin did open at midnight and they did had a line waiting but i think most of the people did what i did just pick it up the day after or when ever they can been one of the first playing a game is not such a big Achievement (or Throphy):)
