If you look up perfection in the dictionary you will see a picture of Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix next to it. From the graphics-to gameplay to the multiplayer, this game oozes perfection.
If you are still reading this review then you must not own this game already, well buckle up as I take you down memory lane with this updated classic.
Ok let’s start off with how awesome the graphics are. The graphics in this game are able to achieve a rare thing by giving it a new hd look, but at the same time it gives off a reflection of nostalgia. To better explain, while I am setting there playing it I notice how awesome the graphics look and how much detail is in all the characters and the backgrounds. Then bam! out of nowhere I get this like weird memory of me being eight sitting in my bedroom playing the original Street Fighter II Turbo amazed about how great the graphics look and how much detail is in the character models.
A cool option that was put into the game is anytime during a match you can go in to the options section and change the sprites back to the original character models, and just let me warn you now it is not a pretty picture when you see just how low detail the old sprites are compared to the new ones.
The gameplay is where you really get to see what makes Street Fighter the best 2d fighter out there. One of the big things that has always been a staple of the Street Fighter games is you get out of it what you put into it. To better explain-the controls are setup in a way so that any average joe can pick up and instantly play the game. The more you play the more you start learning some of the little tricks like how to do a spinning kick with Ken or Ryu and then instantly go into a fireball, this is the glory of Street Fighter.
Now to the one problem. Playing this game on the new consoles and their controllers. While the d-pad on the PS3 is better than the one on the Xbox 360 they are still nowhere near the quality you need to play this or any fighter to the best of its ability. So if you are serious about getting into fighting games then go out and pick up one of the fight sticks from GameStop or any other video game retailer’s website.
Capcom was able to shine in the multiplayer portion by offering up a virtually lagless gameplay experience online. There has always been a problem with fighting games and playing online. The usual thing to happen is slowdowns during intense moments of gameplay becaus there is just so much raw data moving through the pipe that it can slow it down. The netcode that was used in this game must have been giving to capcom by the god of online video games because there is rarely any moments of slowdown or lag. The game runs as smooth as it did when the only way to play multiplayer was down at the local arcade.
In conclusion, this is the best 2d fighter on the market right now and if your a fan of this type of game you most likely have this game, but for the players out there that never really had the honor of growing up with 2d fighters then this is the game for you.

I couldn’t agree more. This game is awesome and infinitely replayable. I was truly addicted to this game back in ‘94 and with this release come all my memories and my skills.Come get some on PSN, ID: j0nRamb0.
Good review but idk bout best 2D fighter. I’d have to go with Guilty Gear, its faster, more complex and you can’t be as cheap.
