SWTOR to add Character Transfers This Summer
In a Star Wars Community Q&A Bioware has released some information about character transfers which should be live early this summer according to Dallas Dickinson (Senior Producer, Live Services). ”We will be rolling out our Character Transfer Service in early summer. First we’ll have some targeted free transfers from/to specific servers…” This is something SWTOR players have been wanting. After the initial response to the game has worn off, many servers have felt like ghost towns.
Dickinson goes on to say there will be paid transfers after the free ones, “[free transfers] will be followed with a broader system where you can either take advantage of free promotional transfers to specific servers or paid transfers to the server of your choice.” Server transfers were made popular by Blizzard in World of Warcraft. Blizzard charges $25 for someone to transfer a character to another server. Blizzard has sense even added faction changes. I don’t know if we would ever see those from Bioware but the addition of server transfers will be both great for gamers and for Bioware’s bank account.
