More Portal 2 DLC? Yep!

by Chris Hayes

This is going to be bitter news for many of you, but oh so sweet for some of you.  Valve has announced that they will be bringing a new piece of DLC to Portal 2!  Coming on May 8, PC and MAC users (sorry console gamers) will be getting the ability to easily create their own Portal 2 levels.  Titled the Perpetual Testing Initiative, owners of the Portal 2 PC/MAC versions of the game will be able to create and edit their own custom levels from within the game.

It should be noted that users have had a “map editor” available to them for a while, but you had to know how to use developer tools to do so.  This new DLC will make maps much easier to make.  On top of that, users will be able to share their creations via the Steam Workshop.  At the moment, it appears that the map editor will only function in Single Player mode for the time being.  Valve is planning on releasing a co-operative creation experience, but it’s not due out until later this summer.

What are your thoughts on this?  Who wants to see it for consoles?
