According to this article on pspfanboy, Sony sold 141,270 PSP-3000′s in the first 4 days. This may seem like a lot (and indeed it is) but considering that the PSP-2000 sold 130,000 in the first day alone. The considerable drop in sales just goes to show that people do not want the next iteration of the same game device, they want the next device (PSP2). Why upgrade to PSP-3000 when you have PSP-2000? Sure it has a brighter screen and a microphone but that is not enough. It is not the same jump as from PSP-1000 to PSP-2000.
In other news there has been a report on some designs for PSP2. Even Though this could be total fantasy and wishes, this looks like the best design I have ever seen. The flexible paper screen shown in the pictures is slowly becoming a reality with a few companies working on it at the moment.
