Dust 514 Closed Beta Announced

News from CCP Games has recently been announced on the Dust 514 front that gets the EVE Universe one step closer to having a presence on game consoles. CCP Games initial foray into the world of console first person shooters, rumored to be released as early as February of 2012, will soon be moving into the exciting stage of “Beta Testing.” Calling it a “gated access beta test,” CCP has dubbed this initial endeavor “Dust 514: Mordu’s Private Trials.”

The initial selection for this closed beta will be chosen from current EVE Online subscribers who submit themselves to be selected as part of the initial beta team. CCP also stated that these lucky gamers will also be given access to exclusive “special events,” but they have not specified what those events would entail.

To date, publicity for this new intellectual property in the mainstream gaming media could be called tepid at best. Considering this is expected to be an outstanding title, the limited coverage may be due to initial signs of a possible vaporware scenario or just a lack of details from CCP Games. Having said that, with gameplay videos being released over the last year, and now a real invitation to a beta test, I would anticipate coverage of CPP’s upcoming first person shooter to increase.

Points of Interest:

  • CCP Games new intellectual property
  • First Person Shooter (Sci-Fi)
  • Playstation 3 Exclusive Title
  • Closed Beta: Active EVE Online subscribers will be chosen
  • Game Release Date: Expected Spring 2012

I am really interested in this game.

  2. Did you sign up for the beta yet. I did, but I have no clue how I will possibly play it. If I get in, I will probably have my sons friend bring his PS3 over for a couple of days.

    Signing up now.

Ah…yeah. I don’t have an account with them, and I don’t believe it’s free is it?

  5. No. I think they have a free trial, but that may not count.
