Burnout Paradise Getting Party Mode and Retail Re-release

Burnout Paradise is a great single player experience, and it’s also a great online experience. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work well for local multiplayer. You can take turns doing events if you want, but there’s no local split screen racing or other events. Criterion has announced that they will pe partially remedying that problem. Coming in February 2009 is the Party Pack. Up to 8 players can take turns participating in challenges similar to the online Freeburn challenges. There still aren’t any split screen events, unfortunately. The update will also include new Trophies and Achievements. It will cost money, but there’s no word yet on how much. I’m also not a fan of Party’s new color scheme, but I suppose I can overlook it.

In addition to that, the game will be getting a facelift at retail with the release of Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box. It will include all of the updates previously available for download, including the Cagney multiplayer update and Bike Pack, and will also include the Party Pack. This will be nice for those who haven’t yet picked up the game, and also for those who want the new content but don’t have their console online. Finally, The Ultimate Box will also be released for the PC as well.
