AAFES Commander Maj. Gen. Bruce Casella stated today that the new Medal of Honor title will not be sold or advertised at  the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, or in layman terms, the military Gamestop. Casella goes on to state, “We regret any inconvenience this may cause authorized shoppers, but are optimistic that they will understand the sensitivity to the life and death scenarios this product presents as entertainment. As a military command with a retail mission, we serve a very unique customer base that has, or possibly will, witness combat in real life.”

This announcement comes on the heels of  comments made by UK Defense Secretary Liam Fox calling the game shocking, disgusting, and criticized EA for producing a product that recreates acts of the Taliban.  Fox is currently calling for a retail ban of this game within the UK.

Although the ban in the UK is unlikely at this time the pulling of MOH within the military is a surprising move to me. It will be interesting to see how much more controversy this game can produce before it’s October 12th release date. Regardless, if the “airport level” has taught us anything it’s EA is going to have everyone talking about and wanting to play their “controversial game”.
