Microsoft recently confirmed with Polygon and Kotaku that all first party Xbox One Games will be $59.99. Although this is good news that the prices of games have not gone up, it does not speak for 3rd party games which could potentially have a higher price point.

Also, Playstation told CNBC, ”We’re going to welcome free-to-play models, games from $0.99 up to those $60 games.” So it looks as if games for Playstation 4 both 1st and 3rd party will be $60 or less

So guys, does this affect your point of view on any of the Next-Gen consoles? Any new thoughts? Feel free to tell us what you think.

I may not have made it to E3 this year, but I still managed to get myself down to a Best Buy to try out the “Nintendo Experience” that put E3 demos in the hands of the average gamer. As much as I would’ve liked to try every game on display I was only able to get hands on time with Super Mario 3D World.

Basically, the game is still Mario through and through. There’s still the jumping, coin collecting, and costume changes that Mario fans expect from their Mario fix. There are a couple of things about 3D World though that give the game a slightly different feel from past titles. It’s nothing new or “fresh” beyond taking a couple of elements that have been explored in past Mario games and have been brought back, creating sort of a Mario mashup.

First, even though the game is set on a 3D plane (it’s not a 2D platformer), the camera is fixed in certain positions throughout the level creating certain “segments”. This is an uncommon move for a 3D platformer, but interestingly it lends something of a 2D platforming effect to the gameplay. Even though you can move around in a 3D space, the camera is always in the same spot, so you always see each segment from the same perspective.

Second, 4 player co-op has been brought in from New Super Mario Bros Wii. This time however, instead of featuring 2 different colored toads, we get the foursome from Super Mario Bros 2 (or Super Mario Bros USA depending on who you ask): Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad. Also returning from SMB2 is the special abilities that each character brings to the table. Mario is the best all around, Luigi can jump higher, Peach can float for a couple seconds and Toad is the quickest on his feet.

In addition to the more subtle aspects there was also one new power up on display – the cat suit. The cat suit power up allows players to climb walls for a short period of time, enabling them to reach certain platforms.

All in all, I found it rather enjoyable. Especially since it updates the whole Mario package to HD. Then again, I quite enjoy Mario games. That being said, chances are if you enjoy Mario games, you more than likely won’t be disappointed. If you don’t care for them, Super Mario 3D World probably won’t change your mind.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is the newest game from NetherRealm Studios it is very inspired by their previous fighting game Mortal Kombat except now the roster is full of some of greatest characters from the DC universe. The story mode in Injustice is where this game really shines it is made up of 12 chapters where each chapter you get to play as a different character. The overall story includes Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Batman, and the Joker from the main DC timeline which get teleported into an alternate reality where Superman and several of the other heroes have rallied together and are now the rulers of Earth in a totalitarian way. There is a back story is to why this happens in comic book form and I really enjoyed reading it, so if you want a more in-depth version of the setup to this story then go check them out. At the beginning of the game, it is briefly explained as to what causes Superman to go over the edge.

Lex Luthor and Bane

Overall, the time in the story will most likely take you 4-6 hours, which is a slightly shorter finish time than Mortal Kombat. The controls in the game are very similar on the surface to Mortal Kombat, down to the point where you can see how certain characters feel like others. For example, Batman feels a little like Scorpion in the ways are controlled. One thing that is different in this game, is that they put a secondary control scheme that you can switch to. As a result, it makes the game feel closer to Street Fighter than Mortal Kombat, basically what that means is instead a lot of charge moves several of the controls switch to quarter circles and half circles which is something I prefer when playing fighting games.

The real meat in this game is all of the extra modes you can unlock and fight with. There is one that gives you only one life bar that slowly fills back up over the course of the entire fight round so, if you are supposed to fight twelve fighters you better be good because you have just the one bar. They also put in a challenge tower game mode this time, fittingly called Star Labs. It also tells an overall secondary story, which is a cool thing to add into a mode that is usually just a way to test your skill, but not necessarily the reason to play Star Labs mode.

Harley Quinn and Nightwing

If there is a bad thing I can say about the game is the fact that your overall player level is not separate from single player and multiplayer. When I finally jumped online, I was forced to play in higher ranked matches because I had played so much single player and had a super high win/loss ratio so I promptly got destroyed online. Through the course of the games, realize there has been several new characters released including Lobo, BatGIrl, and most recently Scorpion, which are all great characters. I think it is dumb that they put in Scorpion as I would have rather seen all DC Comics characters.

In the end, I love the changes they made to this game that allowed it to not feel like Mortal Kombat just with a different skin and in the end this game really shines on it’s own. I personally would love to see the way they played around with the control scheme to allow for a Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter game made by Netherrealm Studios, but I know that is only something that will happen in my dreams.

Injustice Gods Among Us is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and iOS.

Recently Ubisoft ‘s CEO, Yves Guillemot, revealed that they are currently not only working on Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, but also two other Assassin’s Creed games.

Also to prevent players getting tired of the same thing he stated this, “We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time—two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh,”

This is some interesting information for the franchise as Black Flag will be the 6th title in the series.(not accounting for the mobile games)

Where is Ubisoft going with all of these? I do not know, but I am sure as long as they keep making money they will keep making Assassin’s Creed games.

Also in an interview with IGN, the developers admitted that Black Flag will have customizable Multiplayer rules, such as Halo has, but will keep its unique multiplayer it has had in previous games.

We have another Kickstarter that you may be interested in, it is an Indie game called Frozen State. Frozen State is made by Snow Arc Studios in Russia. It is a Survival based top down horror RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Siberian wasteland.

The Backstory is as follows:

“In an alternate universe, where Soviet expedition discovered “something” in Tunguska, after unexplained phenomena in 1922. The mankind made huge technological breakthroughs in many areas of life and science.

Sky gave humans an unexpected gift, which spurred their technological progress: transistors, first computers, robotics, nuclear fusion, self-renewable synthetic fuel, lasers and wireless communication.

However, every medal has two sides. Humankind were playing with “fire” and violently burnt itself.

An unknown organism was accidentally discovered in the one of the extraterrestrial artifacts. The tiny parasite, a contact with it, leads to unpredictable mutations. Despite strict quarantine, the parasite broke out from the laboratories’ walls and infected more than 70% of citizens in a secret Siberian city . The parasite adapts and transforms human’s body to its own needs, turning its victims into vicious hybrids.

Fear of global pandemic forced the Soviet government bombed out the city, leaving all the uninfected to die. They hoped that isolated parasite would die from starvation or hibernate again. But was it isolated?

Three years have gone since the airstrike, which partly destroyed the city, a small number of uninfected are still alive and fighting for their lives.”

This game will be open world and have features such as, dynamic weather, day and night cycles, both a real time and tactical combat systems which can be switched to and from easily, a micro-event system, random building interiors, transport, and robotic companions.

There will be 3 playable characters as seen below.

Now for gameplay, we have a little piece of Alpha footage, just remember things will change between now and release.

Have any of you heard of Club Nintendo? Maybe not. I know lots of Nintendo fans that do not use or know about Club Nintendo. Club Nintendo is a rewards program that gives you “coins” every time you register a new or unregistered Nintendo product online. The amount of coins gained are usually equivalent to dollars spent. Nintendo rewards the members with little things you can get throughout the year buy purchasing them with your coins. Rewards include everything to Nintendo themed clothing to free games.

Also, you can gain either Gold or Platinum elite status which, give you a free gift at the end of the year and it costs you zero coins to get the reward. However, receiving Gold or Platinum status requires you to gain 300 or 600 coins throughout the Nintendo year. Buying things with coins throughout the year will not effect your ability to reach either elite status. After the end of the Nintendo year, June 30th, your status is reset so that you may try again to get elite status the next year.

Every month Nintendo resets 4 of the games you can buy using coins, 2 for the Wii and 2 for the 3DS. These games are usually only 150 coins a piece.

This month the games are Super Mario Bros 3 on the Wii, F-Zero X for the Wii, Link’n’ Launch for the 3DS, and Metroid II: Return of Samus.

The website for the Nintendo Club is Club.Nintendo.com . If you already purchase games on your DS or Wii systems virtually you should already have an account under that username. If not go ahead and make one, it is free.
